I would like to share a little about myself. I am not sure whether it may sound like praising myself. Of course, if a person has any good qualities, the true praise belongs only to Allah, the One who granted those qualities. So whatever small virtues Allah has given me, the real credit belongs to Him alone, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. I was born to a very religious mother. By the mercy of Allah, I was given the ability to be regular in the five daily prayers from a very young age. I started observing full fasting about three years before it became obligatory for me, Alhamdulillah. Right after my SSC exam, I spent forty days in the path of Allah in dawah and tabligh. Allah also blessed me with the company of many righteous scholars. In my first year at university, I again spent forty days in tabligh. After that, by Allah’s mercy, I spent many shorter periods, such as three days at different times, in the effort of tabligh. After completing my four-year engineering degree, Allah gave me the opportunity to spend about four months in the path of Allah as well. During school, college, and university, these are usually the years when many people fall into different kinds of fitnah. But by the immense mercy of Allah, He protected me from free mixing and from getting involved in any kind of unlawful relationships, Alhamdulillah. By Allah’s grace, He has also protected me from habits like using abusive language, lying, and backbiting. I try my best to avoid gossip and complaints about others. Allah has also given me the ability to be very careful about eating only halal food. If I know that someone’s income may be doubtful( Interest, Bribery etc), I avoid eating their food though he is my nearest one. Similarly, I try to be careful when eating meat outside, especially chicken, because sometimes people may not follow the proper Islamic method of slaughter. One quality that Allah has given me with particular sensitivity is dealing with people in matters of conduct and financial dealings. I try to handle these matters very carefully according to the principles of Shariah, because even a very small amount of someone’s right taken unjustly will have heavy consequences in the Hereafter. However, I have discovered a weakness within myself. I sometimes struggle to guard my gaze continuously. For example, I may be able to guard it for about a week or about one month/2 months/3 months/6 months etc but occasionally I slip once. When that happens, I immediately repent from the core of my heart and start striving again to protect my gaze. Maintaining this Fard Amal consistently is the most difficult struggle for me.[ I have heard the lectures about this from many Islamic scholars, and their statement is same for Men on this point ; but the difference is who try their best to protect one's gaze and who doesn't try.] I consider myself a humble and imperfect person. I do not consider myself a good Muslim; rather, I see myself as a weak servant who is trying to become a better Muslim. That is also why marriage is very important for me, because according to the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, marriage helps a person guard his gaze.(May Allah grants me the ability to guard my gaze consistently and completely.) If Allah grants me the life partner I am hoping for, I believe that I may be able to walk more firmly on the path of becoming a better Muslim, InshaAllah.
